Logging Tab

Use this tab to enable log messages. You can specify the destination of the message logs and that each destination receives only messages of a certain severity level or levels, such as error, warning, or fatal messages.

Note: The Unicenter Console and Common Services are coupled. Log messages are sent to both destinations if the setting for either destination is enabled.

The same Server Event log messages are sent to whatever destinations you set up.

CA Identity Manager provides two identical screens for configuring logging from the Provisioning Server, although they differ in scope. (Logging in Provisioning Manager is handled through the Preferences settings.)

The fields in this property page are listed below:

Enabled

Specifies whether you want logging enabled.

Note: If you do not check this box, IM Provisioning does not generate the corresponding message logs.

Common Services

Writes messages to the CA Common Services Log. You can view this log file by starting the eCSLogD daemon and then by running the eCSLogV program. These programs are located in the \Program Files\CA\Shared Components\CA Common Services\bin directory.

Stdout

Writes messages to the DOS command prompt window, but only if you are running the Provisioning Server through the command prompt.

Unicenter Console

Writes messages to the Unicenter Console Log.

Text File

Writes messages to a text file called etatransyyyymmdd-hhmm.log (for Server Event logging) or satransyyyymmdd.log (for Endpoint logging) in the CA Identity Manager\Logs folder.

yyyy

mm

dd

Specifies the day.

hh

mm

System Log

eTrust Audit

Information
